Worker Rights Consortium Annual Meeting Agenda

Dear Colleagues,

As the cherry blossoms begin blooming here in Washington, we look forward to seeing many of you here on April 22 for the Annual Meeting of the WRC University Caucus.

Please find here the meeting agenda. This year, we’ll be discussing:

• What worker rights violations have the WRC documented and addressed in factories producing collegiate apparel this year? What key factory cases are still in progress?
• What does the dramatic shift in US tariff policy mean for consumers, the retail sector, and the rights of workers around the world?  
• What student groups are raising their voices about garment worker conditions?
• What tricks do some factory owners use to deceive worker rights investigators—and how do WRC investigators grapple with these attempts at fraud?

Among the factory cases we’ll be discussing are Base Textiles (Bangladesh), Grupo Merlet (El Salvador), Hong Seng Knitting (Thailand), and PT Semarang Garment and PT Batang Apparel (Indonesia). We’ll have open time for you all to raise any additional topics or dig deeper with our staff—please let us know if there are particular questions you want us to put on the list.

As a reminder, the meeting hotel block closes Friday—and if you haven’t yet RSVP’d, this is the week to do it!
