Pacific Sports Haiti
The WRC investigated a complaint filed by the SOTA-BO union and found that Pacific Sports Haiti, owned by Peace Textile, violated workers’ right to freedom of association. The factory discriminatorily dismissed worker leaders as part of staff reductions that occurred between 2022 and 2024 by refusing these workers the opportunity to transfer to other positions within the factory’s operation.
To remedy the violation, the WRC recommended reinstatement and payment of back wages to the affected workers. However, Pacific Sports Haiti was unwilling to take the required remedial action. The WRC then engaged with the licensee, MV Sport, which urged the supplier to take corrective action. However, the supplier factory was unwilling to do so and, as a result, MV Sport informed the supplier that it would discontinue business with this factory until such time as the violations of university licensing standards were remedied.
