Governance

The WRC is governed by an 18-member Board of Directors, including six representatives of the administrations of the University Caucus, six representatives of the national student organization United Students Against Sweatshops, and six representatives of the WRC Advisory Council, a body of leading labor rights experts and advocates. The Governing Board members are elected for fixed terms by each constituency group, as follows:

• The University Caucus, a body comprised of one representative chosen by the administration of each WRC affiliate college and university, elects the six university representatives to two-year terms on the Board, through staggered elections held each spring.
• The WRC Advisory Council elects the six Advisory Council representatives to open-ended Board terms.
• United Students Against Sweatshops, the leading student-based economic justice advocacy group in the US, elects the six student representatives to one-year terms on the Board. Students must be enrolled as either undergraduate or graduate students in order to serve.

The Board of Directors has three officers: a Chairperson, a Treasurer, and a Secretary. One officer comes from each of the three constituencies and the positions rotate among the constituencies, via annual elections by the full Board.

The Governing Board meets three times per year.
